Craving a Getaway?

Why not? Are you sick of Kuwait's weather? Well I am.

I received a newsletter from Kuwait Airways that promoted an amazing trip to Italy with a fabulous offer. As enthusiastic as I was, I decided to go island hopping via Rome. I arranged an itinerary that included Naples, Amalfi, Positano and Capri.

Kuwait Airways

First things First

Once we landed in Rome we took a domestic flight to Naples. A car was waiting for us to take us to Amalfi Coast which was 2 hours away. We stayed  at a five star hotel Santa Caterina, a  late 19th century liberty style villa immersed in the beautiful scenery of the Amalfi Coast, an elegant seaside residence surrounded by the perennial blue of the Mediterranean sea.

Secondly, Positano

So,  next day we headed to the port right in the little town which is 10 minutes walking distance. The ferry wasn't on time so we decided to get some gelatos. Pistachios was my favorite but since I've been eating tons of frozen yoghurts, I decided to give it a try. Finally we got on board but my brain couldn't stop thing about one thing, mafias. Ever since I told my aunt about our trip, she kept telling us to watch out for the mafias. Old mafia movies started to play back and forth in my head. I gazed upon the spectacular views, mountains surrounding the sea and feeling the breeze going through your hair.
We arrived  in Positano hungry as usual. Luckily, I had a list of best restaurants there and one of them was just facing us. Not considering our selfs as tourists, we don't even fall on that category as we hate exploring places such as museums and ruins. We love to explore restaurants, beaches and local shops. An empty table was set right in front of the boardwalk, that was ours. Focusing all our energy on breaking down the menu from starters to dessert, we were having loud discussions on who will order what and in the same time mixing olive oil and balsamic to be ready for the bread.
After settling things we finally ordered, a couple of seconds later we had an order of bruschetta that was complementary from the owner, Mr Black. Believe it or not but he said he never saw customers so intimate about their food. He invited us over to his table and we introduced ourselves. He owned half of Positano plus he has the only nightclub there. Wonder if  he is a mafia? and he is! Well for one thing, it helped us when riding a cab at midnight heading to the hotel, the driver's accent was weird and he kept saying which hotel were heading to on the phone. Do you know Mr Black? We are good friends we just had dinner with him as to not mess with us.

Last stop, Capri

It started out like yesterday, gelatos and ferry. What we wanted to do is swim and eat. So being the restaurant picker, we went to Villa Verde, an authentic Italian restaurant. Once you enter there's a wall with pictures of celebrities, royalties and more. I spotted a few people I knew before going to our table. The drama began once we opened the menu and so on. Trying not to unzip our trousers, we hopped in a convertible cab straight to the beach.

It turned out to be one of the best trips so far. Thanx to Kuwait Airways for the amazing promotion.
